Development and Finance Committee

The Development and Finance Committee is a group of DGH members and board representatives who plan for the financial stability and sustainability of the organization and the ongoing support of DGH’s partner communities.

The committee organizes and carries out many of DGH’s fundraising efforts. We focus on three areas of development:

Grantseeking to support our partner communities. We identify funding opportunities through small foundations in line with the work of our partner communities.  In some cases we apply for funds to help support the work of our partners, and in other cases we work closely with our partner communities to help them apply for funding directly.

Local fundraisers. We encourage all DGH members to find creative ways to support DGH partner communities and projects.  In addition to coordinating small fundraisers in the areas where we live, we provide ideas, publicity materials and other support to any member who is planning an event.  We have compiled a list of fundraising ideas to inspire you to help!

Donor development and management of a donor database. Much of DGH's budget comes from individual donations.  These donations, ranging from very small to very large, allow us the flexible funding that we need to provide ongoing support to all of our partner communities.  The DFC manages a donor database and organizes all mailings and other communications with DGH membership.

The committee meets for one hour each month by conference call. If you are interested in joining the Development and Finance Committee, e-mail the Committee Chair.
