Doctors for Global Health (DGH) adds its voice with those around the world in denouncing the air strikes on Gaza conducted by Israel in recent days that continue to this day.

While it is clear that rocket fire by Hamas militants against civilians should be ended because it does not help end the occupation and is also illegal under international law, Israel's response represents collective punishment on the entire Gaza population, clearly in violation of the Geneva Conventions.

Doctors for Global Health (DGH) joins Amnesty International and the Communities of El Salvador in signaling and denouncing the use of United States promulgated and validated anti-terrorist legislation to repress peaceful protests.

Letter of Accompaniment to the People of Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Maldive Islands, Somalia, Sumatra, Bangladesh and Burma, and to members of The People's Health Movement, from the Board of Directors, Doctors for Global Health:

"At least seven bodies were scattered outside the convention center, a makeshift staging area for those rescued from rooftops, attics and highways. The sidewalks were packed with people without food, water or medical care, and with no sign of law enforcement. An old man in a chaise lounge lay dead in a grassy median as hungry babies wailed around him. Around the corner, an elderly woman lay dead in her wheelchair, covered up by a blanket, and another body lay beside her wrapped in a sheet."

Call for the immediate establishment of a single-payer, universal health care system, similar to Medicare, that will provide all medically necessary care, including preventive care, to everyone living in the United States regardless or age or income.
